What’s been happening in the Bear Den?

This fall we earned our belt loops for Marbles and Chess during our den meetings.   We also continued working on maps and directions (belt loop earned at campout.)  If your child participated, check off electives 23, Maps.

On the Dec. 10 meeting, Miss Janet helped the boys build a construction project.  If your son participated, please mark off the appropriate boxes from Chapter 20 and 21  (Sawdust and Nails, Build and Model)

Tonight we will decorate gingerbread houses to celebrate the holidays.   In chapter 9 (What’s Cooking) mark off b,d, and f.  Pick one more to complete at home to finish that requirement.

The boys really enjoyed learning about Tall Tales, listening to tall tale ballads, playing character charades and acting out The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Next week we will locate several of the stories we learned about on a map and tie it in to what we’ve been learning about maps and compasses.

If you would like a copy of the Sleepy Hollow script, you can download it here:

We had a great time at the Fall Campout!

The boys earned a Conservation belt loop, a Compass belt loop, and a Hiking belt loop and pin.

Thanks to Mr. Stephen for teaching the boys all about using a map and compass.   The boys led us on a hike around the campground using a compass and map.

We hope to see everyone at the next den meeting on Monday, Oct. 15 when we will have some fun with folk tales!

We are really excited to get started again with the cub scouts of Pack 93!  We are working hard to keep you informed of upcoming pack and den activities.  Be sure to check the Pack 93 website and our Wolf Den blog often to get the latest news and updates.

We will use the blog to post reminders of upcoming den meetings and events as well  as let you know which activities will be completed in den meetings and which activities need to be completed at home so each boy is able to keep up with badge requirements.

You will be given contact information at the first meeting, but if you have a question for one of your den leaders you can reach us using the pack email:

bears@pack93.org

This email will be forwarded to all Bear Den Leaders.

See you soon!

Ms. Janet & Ms. Mindy
